The importance of bottom tension wire

Let’s talk about bottom tension wire. What is it you might ask? In residential galvanized applications it is usually a barbless barb wire stretched tight along the bottom of the fence, ran along the line posts, tired off to a corner, end, or gate post. In commercial, or residential vinyl coated applications, it’s a coil wire (usually 7 gauge) ran the same as the residential. What is the purpose of bottom tension wire? It is a must on all chainlink jobs to prevent the bottom of the wire from being pushed out, or pulled up by an intruder, pet, or other critter. It is usually secured by at least (5) hog rings ( one every 2 feet). Here at Fence Pro it is considered a standard option on all chainlink fences that we install.
